The Omega 8006 is one of the most widely known horizontal slow juicers Omega has produced. For many years it was a popular recommendation for people who focused on juicing leafy greens, vegetables, and wheatgrass.
Today, the 8006 has largely been succeeded by the newer Omega NC800, which introduced several design improvements that make juicing easier and more versatile. If you’re buying new today, the NC800 is generally the model we recommend. However, the 8006 can still be an alternative, if you happen to find it at a noticeably lower price.
Like other Omega horizontal slow juicers, the 8006 can process a wide variety of produce including leafy greens, wheatgrass, fruits, and vegetables. In addition to juicing, it can also be used to prepare foods such as nut butters, baby food, frozen fruit desserts, and pasta using the included attachments.
The juicer operates at a slow 80 RPM, which helps reduce oxidation compared to high-speed centrifugal juicers and produces clean, flavorful juice.
Omega J8006 vs Omega J8005
The J8006 was introduced as an updated version of the earlier J8005 model.
One of the key changes was the addition of a heavy-duty Ultem auger. Ultem is a durable material commonly used in food-processing equipment and is stronger than standard plastic augers.
The J8006 also introduced a 15-year warranty, which is longer than what many juicers in this category offer.
Build Quality & Warranty
The 8006 is designed for regular home juicing. It handles fibrous produce like leafy greens and celery well, and the motor runs relatively quietly during operation.
Omega provides a 15-year warranty, which remains one of the longer warranty periods available for a slow juicer.
Manufacturing Origin
Older Omega 8006 units (specifically the earlier J8006 model) were primarily manufactured in South Korea, where many well-known slow juicers are produced.
However, many of the newer retail versions sold today — such as the J8006HDS, J8006HDC, and J8006HDBLK — are now manufactured in China.
That doesn’t necessarily affect day-to-day use, but it is a change worth noting for buyers who pay attention to manufacturing origin.
By comparison, the newer Omega NC series, as well as models like the Omega VSJ843, are still manufactured in South Korea, which is known for producing many of the industry’s well-regarded slow juicers. For that reason — along with the design improvements — we generally prefer the NC series when choosing between these models today.
Multifunction Capabilities
Like most Omega horizontal juicers, the 8006 can do more than just juice.
Using the included attachments and blank screen, it can also be used to prepare:
- nut butters
- baby food
- frozen fruit desserts
- nut milks
- pasta
While it won’t replace dedicated appliances, these additional functions can be useful for people who enjoy experimenting with whole foods.
Pros
• Very good for leafy greens, celery, and vegetables
• Produces clean juice with minimal foam
• Easy to assemble and clean
• Multifunction capabilities beyond juicing
• 15-year warranty coverage
Cons
• Narrow feed chute requires produce to be cut into smaller pieces
• Less suitable for juicing soft fruits on their own
• Requires a pusher during operation
Final Words
The Omega 8006 is a horizontal slow juicer that works particularly well particularly for leafy greens and vegetables, producing clean juice with very little pulp.
That said, the newer Omega NC800 is the updated version of this platform and is generally the model we recommend today.
However, if you find the 8006 at a noticeably lower price, it can still be an alternative — especially for people who primarily juice leafy greens and prefer a cleaner, low-pulp juice.
If you prefer pulpier juice or plan to juice a wider mix of fruits, vegetables, and greens, a vertical slow juicer like the Omega VSJ843 may be a better fit.
