Greenstar Elite Review

Juicer.Kitchen Verdict

8.2 out of 10

The Greenstar Elite is a time-tested juicer that offers exceptional value with its durable build and reliable 12-year warranty. It’s a great choice for green juice enthusiasts, easily handling everything from hard roots like carrots and ginger to fibrous leafy greens like kale and wheatgrass. While the Greenstar 5 is the newest model in the series and our preferred choice, the Greenstar Elite still delivers the same high yield and nutrient-rich juice at a more affordable price.

Compared to single auger slow juicers, the Greenstar Elite requires more effort in assembly, produce pushing, and takes about 5 minutes to clean. However, it compensates with superior juice quality, higher yield, and better nutrient extraction. If yield and nutrition are your priorities and you’re willing to invest a bit more time in assembly and cleanup, the Greenstar Elite is a fantastic choice—offering great value without the premium cost of the latest model or higher-end options like Angel juicers.

Greenstar Elite Detailed Review

Greenstar and Angel are our two favorite brands in the twin gear juicing world. Angel takes the top spot with its all-stainless steel construction, but not everyone can spend over $2,000 on a juicer. That’s where Greenstar comes in. It’s the only real alternative to Angel in this category—delivering nearly the same juice quality at a fraction of the cost.

While the Greenstar 5 is the newest and our preferred choice in the Greenstar lineup, the Greenstar Elite remains an excellent pick if you want twin gear performance without spending $800 or more.

What it can juice?

The Greenstar Elite twin gears can handle just about any tough produce you throw at it—hard roots like carrots and ginger, fibrous greens like kale and wheatgrass, and stringy vegetables like celery.

If you’re primarily juicing greens or hard veggies, this machine excels with top-tier yield and nutrient retention.

However, it’s not ideal if fruit makes up 75% or more of your juices. While a 50/50 fruit-to-veggie mix works fine, the machine struggles with large amounts of soft fruits. If your focus is fruit-heavy blends, a vertical juicer like the Hurom H400 will serve you better.

Juice Quality and Yield

Twin gear juicers like the Greenstar Elite are built to maximize yield and preserve nutrition. The juice is smooth, pulp-free, and richer in taste than what you get from single auger juicers. The pulp comes out impressively dry—though not quite at the level of $2,000 machines like the Angel, it’s drier than any single auger slow juicer we’ve tested.

Juice Taste

You can taste the difference. The juice feels more concentrated and vibrant, with deeper flavor—especially noticeable when juicing greens, carrots, and beets. It’s a noticeable step up from the lighter taste you often get from single auger machines.

Prepping produce

Greens: Very easy. You can roll them and feed, it will suck it in.

Carrots & Ginger: Requires pressure using the pusher. It takes some effort.

Apples: Need to be chopped. Fat carrots may need to be halved lengthwise.

This machine isn’t as effortless as some newer models, and pushing harder produce through twin gears can take strength. But that’s the tradeoff for the juice quality and yield you get.

Assembly & Cleaning

This is where the Greenstar Elite asks for a little more from you. Assembly can take some getting used to. As for cleaning, it takes me about 5–7 minutes to clean this machine thoroughly, including scrubbing the screen and getting into the nooks and crannies. It’s definitely more work than single augers.

If maximum yield and nutrition are your priorities and you don’t mind a bit of extra effort, the Greenstar Elite is an excellent choice.

If you want something easier to use and clean, and you mostly juice greens:

If you want to juice everything (including fruits) and want the easiest possible experience, the Hurom H400 is our top pick.

Verdict – If I had to choose one, I’d go with the latest Greenstar 5. It offers 100% stainless steel augers, a longer 15-year warranty, improved ease of cleaning, a sleeker design, and sturdier parts—including an upgraded feed chute.

I’d only choose the Pro over the 5 if I specifically needed NSF certification for a juice bar or small business.

That said, if you’re on a tighter budget, the Elite still delivers the same high juice yield and quality. While it lacks the all-metal gears and latest design tweaks, it’s a reliable, premium twin gear juicer that performs just as well where it matters most—and it still comes backed by a 12-year full warranty.

Final words

The Greenstar Elite is still one of the best twin gear juicers available—especially for those focused on nutrient-rich green and vegetable juices. It’s powerful, well-built, and delivers excellent juice quality.

Yes, it takes a bit more effort to clean and push produce through compared to single auger juicers. But if you’re serious about juicing and want near-Angel performance without the Angel price, this machine is an outstanding deal.
